We’re excited to share that our marae kitchen upgrade project is officially underway! This project is a huge step forward in our long-term vision to strengthen our marae infrastructure for future generations.

 

Thanks to a successful funding application to the Department of Internal Affairs, our marae has secured $506,866.00 to upgrade our kitchen to a commercial, fit-for-purpose standard. Of 22 applications seeking $24.8 million in funding, only a portion of the $11.7 million was granted — so we feel incredibly fortunate to have been selected!

 

Ngā mihi nui to our awesome funding team (especially Lynn Freeman) who pulled the proposal together within just two weeks — ka mau te wehi!

RENOVATION DETAILS

• Start Date: Monday 7 July 2025

• Contractor: Shane Campbell and his team at Triple C Contractors

• Scope: Full kitchen upgrade and driveway redevelopment

• Estimated Completion: End of November 2025

• Status: 🛠️ Kua tīmata te mahi!

For the health and safety of all whānau and workers, our marae is now closed until the completion of the project. This includes:

• Tangihanga

• Hui ā-whānau

• Working bees

We kindly ask everyone to respect this temporary closure — construction zones can be dangerous, and these measures are in place to keep everyone safe.
