PRIVACY STATEMENT

This explains what we collect about whānau and beneficiaries, why we collect it, who can see it, and how you can update or remove it — in line with the Privacy Act 2020. 

What we collect 

• Your name and whānau/hapū connection 

• Contact details — email, phone, and where you're based 

• Skills, experience, and areas you're interested in contributing to 

• How you'd like to be involved (e.g. hands-on, advice, events, governance) 

• Anything else you choose to tell us in a survey, form, or booking request 

Why we collect it 

• To keep whānau connected with the marae and with each other 

• To build a picture of the collective skills and knowledge we can draw on 

• To contact you about hui, working bees, events, and marae bookings 

• To plan and report back on marae development projects 

We only use your information for these marae-related purposes - never for anything else, and never sold or given to anyone outside the marae for commercial use. 

Who can see it 

• The Marae Co-ordinator, Trustees, and committee members directly involved in the activity your information relates to (e.g. bookings, skills register, events) 

• It is not made public and is not shared outside the marae without your consent, unless we're required to by law 

Some information (like the shared whānau skills list) may be visible to other whānau helping to organise marae activities - this is noted wherever that applies. 

How long we keep it 

We keep your information only as long as it's useful for the purposes above, and review it from time to time. You're welcome to ask what we currently hold about you at any time. 

How to update, correct, or remove your information 

Just get in touch with the Secretary - by phone, email, or in person, and let us know what you'd like changed.

You can: 

• Update your contact details or skills information at any time 

• Ask what information we hold about you 

• Ask us to correct anything that's wrong 

• Ask us to remove your details from any register or list 

We'll action your request as soon as reasonably possible.
